Improving lives and quality of care

I am passionate about improving lives of people living in care homes and the quality of care they receive. For over 20 years I have worked with people living in care homes providing support to improve or maintain physical health and abilities.

My work has also involved working with and training care staff in safe ways to assist and empower people to move and maintain their physical abilities. I have carried out audits to help identify areas that could be improved to enable people to live more enriching lives and staff to feel more valued.

My specific areas of interest and experience are in:

  • Keeping people active through empowering them to have control over their physical health and independence.

  • Making care personalised by an in-depth discovery of someone’s life.

  • Looking at how we value care staff in order to improve the quality of care given.

I would love to talk to you if:

  • You too have an interest in any of these areas.

  • You work in a care home and are curious to have a conversation to see how both residents and staffs’ lives could be enhanced.

  • You manage a care home and are interested to see how you can move from ‘good’ to ‘outstanding’ in CQC ratings.

“Melanie was able to offer the Nursing team full consultation support on all aspects of Physio and worked alongside staff to assess equipment and residents’ needs.

Residents also benefited from the friendly and professional one-to-one service she offered meaning they no longer had to wait for lengthy NHS referrals. I would have no hesitation in recommending Melanie to anyone who was looking for either some general Physio advice or the complete care home training/consultation solution she provided to us.”
